UPDATE  06.20.12

SPRINGER FIRE: People continue to call us up and insist that the Park is closed because they heard it on the news. ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS OPEN. The back country campsites are temporarily closed. All other Park facilities are open. NO roads are closed except for the road leading to Eleven Mile Canyon. The Canyon is currently closed but is not part of the State Park. CR 90 and 92 from Lake George is open. Incident Commander reporting 23% containment. Fire fighters have been up beat and feel like they are getting a handle on things. Light to non existent wind has helped dramatically the last two days. If you were thinking of coming out to fish there is no fire related reason why you shouldn’t.

CONDITIONS:  Hot and Dry.  State wide fire ban in place. Campfires still allowed in Park campsite fire pits.

WATER FLOW:         CFS  97.7  IN   90.1    CFS OUT     WATER TEMP: 59

TROUT: EXCELLENT TO OUTSTANDING: Boaters are doing way better than shore anglers. Night shore anglers fare much better than the day anglers. Trollers can’t get a minute to have a snack.   Lots of spoons and baits working. Needlefish, Dick Nites, Kastmasters and Tas Devils continue their great production. Color changes based on the time of day. Lots of fish suspended 15 to 25 feet deep. Lead core rigs, down riggers and cow bells all producing. We are talking serious catching. Lots of smaller fish mostly Rainbows, Cutbows and Cutthroats running 14 to 16 inches but there are a fair number of bigger fish up to 7 pounds being landed. The action off a boat is non stop and tons of fun. Perfect for a great Fathers Day weekend.

SALMON: POOR: Looking for just one. One would be nice even a little one. Oh I heard some one caught one.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR: You have to work hard to catch the big one but action on smaller fish is decent. Try Husky Jerks in Fire Tiger or Silver Blue. Big spoons also productive.

HOURS: M-S 7:00AM – 7:00PM

We have installed a new modular for our store and office. Our current space is 12 x 36. Our new space will be 24 x 60. We hope to have it all done by the end of the month and have our old unit removed. In the mean time parking might be a little tight around our store. We are excited about the new space. The new store will have expanded offerings in groceries, camping, fishing supplies, clothes and lots more.
