CONDITIONS: We have had some good rain. Temperatures have been mild during the day and cool at night. Minimal wind and an incredible fish bite. All Park facilities are open. Back Country campsites and Coyote Ridge are open. FIRE BAN IS OFF MEANING YOU CAN HAVE A FIRE IN THE PARK. Yey campfire smores are back. Everyone impacted by the recent firestorms are no doubt still in shock. Businesses in the mountains are feeling the serious impact of what has transpired and business is off dramatically. The Park had over 350 cancellations. Park attendance is down 45% from last year this time. In Park County when a business loses July they will have a hard time getting through winter. Hopefully folks will return to enjoy the Colorado high country summer. Many out of State tourists have already cancelled their Colorado plans after seeing the horror of wildfires on the nightly news.  But we still have lots of summer left so maybe things will turn around. Either way we make the best of what we have and thank all of you who did not cancel your Eleven Mile plans and came to catch the big one. The fishing Gods rewarded those who made the trip with memorable angling experiences.

TROUT: EXCELLENT AND BEYOND: We have seen an unusual number of BIG fish. Shore and boat.  Shore action has picked up considerably.  Trollers can’t get a minute to have a snack.   Lots of spoons and baits working. Needlefish, Krocodiles, Dick Nites, Kastmasters and Tas Devils continue their great production. Color changes based on the time of day. Lots of fish suspended 25 to 40 feet deep. Lead core rigs, down riggers and cow bells all producing. We are talking serious catching. Tons of action for Rainbows, Cuttbows and Cutthroats running 15 to 17 inches. Those working the fly rod are killing them between 9:00AM and 11:00AM. If you can’t catch fish here you might have to consider another hobby. Stop in for the latest info. We want you to be successful and will assist in any way.

SALMON:  FAIR: The action has picked up significantly. You need to be persistent. Fish deep just outside the North Shore. 40 feet in 60 feet of water. Arnies Chartreuse Dynamic, Kastmaster (maroon and gold), Tas Devils with pink. Variety of sizes from 10 to 23 inches. Mid morning and early afternoon.

NORTHERN PIKE: POOR:  They just don’t want to join the party. Must be the Annual Serious Fishermen Team Pike Tournament. They fished em all out. Yeh thats my story and I’m stickin to it. Mark your calendar for September 8 for big money, great food, live music and a fun time.
