Brown Trout Dan

CONDITIONS: Summer afternoon showers have limited the fire danger. All Park facilities are open.

WATER TEMPERATURE:  65 degrees

WATER FLOW:   78 CFS IN    77 CFS OUT

TROUT: EXCELLENT: The summer bite of 2010 will be talked about for years to come. The epic bite continues as trollers score Rainbows, Cuttbows, Cuttthroats and Browns running 14 to 23 inches. Although most fish landed are of the smaller variety there are big ones being caught as evidenced by this weeks photo. Lots of lures working with Tasmanian Devils, Kastmasters, Dick Nites, Arnies and Needlefish all doing well. Shore anglers netting fish on Salmon Peach, Chartruese and Rainbow Power Bait. Fly fishing has been good between Goose Island and Rocking Chair at mid morning.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR: The bite we expected never materialized. Although it started off great it died hard recently. Try deeper water in channel areas down 30 – 40 feet.  Bring in a limit for a photo and get a free hat and $50.00

NORTHERN PIKE: POOR TO FAIR: Action has improved ever so slightly. Lots of follow up few takers. Every now and then you will get a hot hour usually between 2:00 and 4::00PM

MARRINA STORE HOURS: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Seven days a week.

Weekly Fishing Report 7.22.2010 - posted July 22, 2010

CONDITIONS: Water Temperature 65 degrees. 98.6  CFS IN   97.5 CFS OUT.          All park facilities are open. Starting to see some of that algae bloom that occurs as the water warms.

TROUT: EXCELLENT: The strong bite continues. Boat anglers doing great. Fish are getting a little more particular about lures and colors but when you find the right one look out.  Rainbows, Browns, Cutthroats and Cuttbows are all in the mix. It is hard to believe but peoploe are complaining they are only catching fish from 13 to 16 inches and they whine about not catching bigger ones. Most bigger fish are caught in the Spring and Fall. Be thankful for the bite. It is way better than getting skunked. Turn the kids on to fishing by catching lots and lots of fish.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR: Larger fish are being caught frequently but few limits. Smaller ones have not been biting. Folks have come in bragging about catching a bunch of salmon but are really trout. Know your fish or you will be over the limit. Tas Devils, Apex, Needlefish and Kastmasters do well. Work Goose Island to Duck and Duck to Deer. Fish are 30 to 40 feet down.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO POOR:  A few big fish are starting to turn up but it is still difficult. Mid afternoon seems to be best.

MARINA HOURS: MONDAY – FRIDAY 7:00AM – 7:00PM

Catching is FUN! Especially when it is Father and Son!

CONDITIONS: Summer

WATER TEMPERATURE  64    IN FLOW  97.6   CFS OUT FLOW 96.8

TROUT: (Rainbow, Cuttbow, Cutthroat, Brown) STILL EXCELLENT: The epic bite continues. Trollers complaining of catching to many fish. Imagine that.  Action fast and furious for all specie with sizes running 13 to 20 inches. Most fish are from the winter stocking but lots of other bigger fish are being landed. A numbers game to be sure. Many spoons and lures working with Tas Devils, Dick Nites and Arnies doing best. Shore anglers also doing well on typical baits. Nite anglers are hiding behind rocks and trees to bait their hooks. The bite is that intense.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR AT BEST: We really thought after such a great winter we would see a better open water season. But sporadic bites and elusive schools are yielding only moderate action. Many that are caught are large with the younger fish hiding. Change up baits but concentrate on red, pink and orange colors.  No one bait has proved itself to be consistent.

NORTHERN PIKE:  POOR: The little ones are catchable but the bigger fish are not biting. Try your luck but be prepared to work it hard. Wow. I suppose they are waiting for September to turn on. Serious Fishermen Team Pike Tournament September 11. Contest sign up fliers will be out soon.
