CONDITIONS:: Park is open 24/7/365. Spinney and Eleven Mile open for boating. Looks like Springtime in the Rockies. Proverbial don’t like the weather wait 15 minutes. Great time to visit the Park. Some signs of the annual Spring massive hatch on the horizon. This event makes the fish fat and happy and folks on shore running from the clouds of bugs. The mayfly hatch lasts about 10 days to 2 weeks and looks to be primetime by the Holiday weekend.

NO NO NAME: For many years many of you looked forward to the annual No Name Fishing Tournament hosted by the 11 Mile General Store usually held this weekend. Jim Collins sadly died last year and the tournament was cancelled. The family has subsequently closed the store and with it the annual right of Spring contest. We hear there is a fly fishing tournament this weekend but no one has contacted us with any information nor does the Park have much info beyond there will be a contest. We only know this because we have rented some boats to some anglers in the event. We guess the promoters want to keep it a secret. We’ll find out soon enough.

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and more.  Stop in and check out our offerings and get the latest fishing information.  We have a great store with great selection of what works.  Support the fishing report... Shop our store here at the lake. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is power. It's also critical to catching fish. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will mark it up with the hot spots.

TROUT:FAIR TO GOOD:. It looks like the bite is fair for most good for others. Big fish are being caught but a little work and effort may be the best asset in the tackle box.. The old standby Kastmaster has been very productive as well as Tasmanian Devils and Rapala’s. A fair number of anglers report good action pitching a Tas from shore which is interesting since most work it on the troll. Trollers have seen mostly smaller fish with shore anglers seeing the bigger ones. Typical Spring baits are working if you work them. Take ten casts walk ten yards. Like ice fishing a little move never hurts if you are in an inactive area. Look to Howbert, Rocking Chair and North Shore as most consistent. Fish early fish late but by all means fish!

KOKANEE SALMON: No reports of anything substantial.

NORTHERN PIKE:FAIR TO POOR: Smaller fish more active bigger ones yet to be seen.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.

The WEEKLY FISHING Report is produced by fishermen for fishermen. We try to get it done every Thursday but some times fishing or life gets in the way. So if its not there on Thursday morning it will show up by Friday. We appreciate all the support and acknowledge that many of you won't miss a week. Many Thanks. Oh and by the way there may not always be a  fish  pic.

CONDITIONS:: Park is open 24/7/365. Spinney and Eleven Mile open for boating. It’s been more Winter than Spring the last few days. Cold, rain and snow, AND more of the same. It’s been hard to get our equipment ready even harder to fish given the last week’s worth of weather. Again it looks to be improving just in time for the weekend. Hurray! All Park facilities open May 15 accept for Witchers Cove boat ramp which opens Memorial Weekend.

TROUT:FAIR: BOAT. Last weekend saw a good crowd but mostly disappointment in the catching side of things. There were a few really nice fish landed but most action was on smaller fish of the stocker variety. Needlefish, Kastmaster, Rapala and Tasmanian Devil were doing well. We just got our Tasmanian stock in with a few new patterns we can’t wait to try. Pic above was caught on a silver and blue spoon. That is a productive pattern here over the years. WE like the Kastmaster in silver blue and they make a rattle Kastmaster that has also been reported as productive. Those pitching tube jigs did OK from time to time on the standard 3 pounders. SHORE: Spawn sacks and Nightcralers have done well. The fly and lure crowd are also doing fair to good walking the shoreline. Howbert to Suckers Cove and North Shore to Corral Cove are worth a visit.

KOKANEE SALMON: NO REPORT

NORTHERN PIKE:POOR: A few small fish. Water is still a little to cold. We have seen just a few in the shallows. We need a few hood weather days.

SUPPORT THE REPORT: It was a great Winter Season thanks for all your support. Hope to see you for open water and great Summer fishing vibes.
FISHING REPORT PHOTO CONTEST: New contest to start soon stay tuned for details.

CONDITIONS:: Park is open 24/7/365. Ice off. It’s official, Spinney and Eleven Mile open for boating. It’s been more Winter than Spring the last few days. Cold, rain and snow, oh wind too! Looks to be improving. with warmer and nicer conditions on the way. Both North Shore boat ramps are open, Witchers Cove ramp opens Memorial weekend. All fishing access areas are open.

RENTALS: We currently are trying to get our equipment ready but the weather has not cooperated. Trying to get our docks in and boats ready asap. We may have some limited availability for this weekend.

TROUT:FAIR TO GOOD: There were a couple of boats that ventured out only to be blown off the lake. Initial reports are things were slow out there. Eleven Mile is historically a little slow at first ice off. Shallow water is best. Shore angling has been productive. Bite times are sporadic around the weather. We need it to warm up. Rapala’s are great this time of year. We particularly like the jointed variety. J9’s and J7’s work really well here and at Spinney. Spawn sacks from shore are hot. Did you know it is against CPW regulations to make a spawn sack out of eggs from a fish caught in the lake. They have been citing those doing it. We make our sacks out of Pautzke salmon eggs. The nice thing is you can use different flavors of eggs if the regular aren’t working. We have shrimp and garlic flavored eggs that have worked well. Stop in we may have some sacked up for sale or will show you how we do it. Cuttbows like the one in pic above and a few Browns have been showing up.

TROUT:VERY GOOD: Initial reports are good with a lot of action for fish in many categories. Fly, lure or bait seems to work at some point through out the day. Suckers Cove, North Shore and Howbert have seen great action. Pink Power Bait, Nightcrawlers and Salmon Eggs for bait, Kastmaster, Rapala and Thomas Bouyant on the hardware and look to Black and Green Wooly Buggers on the Fly. OFF SEASON HOURS:   APRIL HOURS: Saturday and Sunday 8:00AM to 4:00PM

SUPPORT THE REPORT: It was a great Winter Season thanks for all your support. Hope to see you for open water and great Summer fishing vibes.
FISHING REPORT PHOTO CONTEST: The Winter contest was great and we are thinking of moving it to a seasonal thing. Stay tuned save those pics.

CONDITIONS:: Park is open 24/7/365. Lake is 96.9% ice capped. Ice thickness running 5 to 17 inches. The ice is soft and candling. The edges are going in many spots but you can still get on the ice particularly on the East end of the lake if you want. Based on today’s observation there will be ice fishing opportunities this weekend. It was 15 degrees this morning. Extreme caution advised. Fresh snow helps identify weak spots. There are limited shore fishing opportunities. The most are at North shore with the little boat ramp cove as we call it open just enough and the shoreline all along the marina area is open. for a moderate cast and expanding. Ice conditions change rapidly and ice can shift. This is when you want to fish for the real big ones. It’s shoreline trophy season now! It’s hard to imagine the lake open for boating before May 1. The latest we have seen it was May 10.

SPINNEY MOUNTAIN: NO OPENING DATE SET AS OF THIS REPORT. 95% ice covered.

FISHING REPORT PHOTO CONTEST: See next week's report for Winter Season Winner. Judges are conferring now.

THIS WEEKS WINNER: Kaylee got this one on a white tube jig tipped with sucker meat on a tip up. 6 feet of water.

CONDITIONS:: Park is open 24/7/365. Lake is 99% ice capped. Thickness running 8 to 20 inches. Small amount of open water at the inlet. NO SHORELINE OPEN WATER FISHING AVAILABLE YET. Edges go first. Caution advised. Ice Fishing this weekend no problem. Early on early off best policy.

WATER FLOW:   IN 47.5  CFS    OUT: 55.1  CFS

Thanks in advance for you patronage. We are here because of your continued support.

TROUT GOOD:  Action is consistent all over the lake. Cross Creek to Suckers Cove fishing very well but be very careful of ice conditions. Typically things get softer faster there.  Stocker action strong at North Shore but you can see them almost anywhere now as the Winter stocking is rapped up. Large tube jigs, Trout Traps and Krystal Lazers hitting the best, always tipped with something. You can use meal worms, wax worms, salmon eggs, piece of night crawler, even small shrimp to entice on a jig but definitely use something.

KOKANEE SALMON:VERY GOOD: These are eating fish and it's time to eat. This could be one of the last weekends to fill the smoker with the tastiest treat around. SMOKED SALMON! The bite is sporadic with early and late the better times. Jigging machines really help but not required. Work the spoons with one rig and have a small micro jig on the other. Swedish Pimples and Kastmasters have been the most consistent. Some have caught them as far West as Stoll Mountain. It was a great Winter Season and hopes are the bite will move into Spring Trolling. Stop in for latest hot spots.

NORTHERN PIKE:FAIR TO GOOD: Activity has been picking up. Look to 10 feet of water or less. We are out of Waterdogs but sucker meat has been working on a variety of jigs. Either tip up or dead stick is a good approach but they will be attracted by the flash of a spoon too.

RENTAL EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE

CONDITIONS:: Park is open 24/7/365. It' still been Winter no open water. We did not get any snow out of the last big storm so trekking is not so bad. Ice thickness running 17 to 23 inches with four to six inches of snow on that.  It was warm with snow melting yesterday. The drainage into the lake from shoreline areas will effect water clarity in the shallows and it has been bad.  It's  been a great season with the best yet to come. Don't give up now! North Shore hit with massive stocking yesterday and today. Bring the kids have a blast. It's a numbers game. Late season ice fishing edges go first so be careful although everything is very firm right now.

WATER FLOW:   IN 49.9  CFS   OUT: 59.7  CFS   Water Temp: ICE COLD Water clarity poor.

TROUT: GOOD: Crazy stocker action on the north side of the lake. They are spreading around. Many fish in the 17 to 20 inch range showing up. Mostly Cuttbows some Browns. Greens and Pink continue to be good colors. Baits like salmon eggs, Pautzke Firebait and Crawlers also have been producing. Bigger fish spotted in deeper water just below the ice down to 12 feet. It's worth a hike to 30 feet and deeper although there are lots of big fish beginning to show up. Top pic caught on a 11 Mile Marina all Pink Krystal Lazer on the bottom in 13 feet of water.  As the pics show there are huge fish being landed right now. Sandy shoreline areas in 3 to 5 feet of water. Salmon eggs and bait work well on the large spawning fish also but we like big tube jigs in white and green. Now is the time. Don't give up this could be the best ice fishing weekend of the Winter no bullshit!

KOKANEE SALMON: STILL VERY GOOD: The great 2019 bite continues. Some days are better than others just like "fishing". Fish have been very finicky. But when the bite happens its all hands on. Have extra poles ready so as not lose any time while they are in. Don't even waste time getting them off the hook, just get another rig and get back in the game. Changing up is the name of the game when they reject your offerings time and again. Spoons are our favorite but they hit micro jigs too. Try a stinger hook with a four inch leader off your Kastmaster, Krocodile or Swedish Pimple and a size 14 salmon egg hook with just a meal worm on it. They often will come in on the spoon and hit the dangling worm. North Shore and Duck Island are two great areas with North Shore the easiest hike. We did well in only 45 feet of water recently.

NORTHERN PIKE:FAIR: Sometimes you would think these fish middle name is Kokanee as finicky as they have been. They are there but very leery.  Waterdog on a tip up probably your best bet while fishing for Trout. If you are sight fishing stay cool, calm and collected when the big one comes in. We have seen these monsters stare at a bait for 20 minutes or more before inhaling your offering. It can happen if you let it. More often than not people get antsy and twitch their bait only to scare them off. Try 10 feet or less in coves or off weed beds. North Shore is full of stockers and large Pike full of stockers too! We have seen some monsters prowling the marina cove.

So if its not there on Thursday morning it will show up by Friday. We appreciate all the support and acknowledge that many of you won't miss a week. Many Thanks. Oh and by the way there may not always be a  fish  pic.
