2026 11 MILE MARINA PIKE A THON MAY 2 - 16 In cooperation with CPW 11 Mile Marina will be trying out a new event. We use to have an annual Pike tournament which was sanctioned by CPW. They believed it is was a worthy event to help keep Pike at a good balance. We stopped doing it because the business market changed. It was an event to help business in slow times but now weekends in September are always busy and the contest got in the way. The objective now is to educate people about the Northern Pike species. How to catch them, how to clean them, how to eat them. And how to hold them LOL. Historically Northern Pike were introduced to help control other specie such as suckers. Without the proper balance Pike can overrun a lake as they generally don’t differentiate between suckers, trout and other specie. The only main predator the Pike have are anglers. The Pike situation at Eleven Mile is currently one of good balance where we would like to keep it. Spinney is another story where the numbers of Pike are larger than CPW would like. We are setting up a page on the CONTEST LINK with all the details. The event will be held from May 2 - May 16. There will be seminars on Saturday the 2nd and the 9th. A fish fry on the 16th. Participants will be able to weigh in fish for two weeks. Heaviest weight will win a minimum of $500.00. Still working on details which will be posted soon on

No deadline to sign up. PARTICIPANT SIGN UP: If you would like to sign up for the catch a thon part of the event you can do that anytime before you go fishing between May 2 and May 15 in person at the Marina Store. $35.00 per participant. Heaviest weight for the two week period awarded $500.00 and bragging rights. Other places awarded cash based on number of sign ups.

SIGN UP NOW. We will not disclose number of participants and what they are individually weighing in until the end. So far almost 50lbs have been weighed in. So sign up and see what you can do.

MAY 16TH: THE WAY TO FILLET: 10:30AM MARINA DECK: Now that you caught one or more what’s the plan?? Alex Falk demo’s the do’s and dont’s of cleaning/filleting a Northern Pike.

FHNB FISH FRY: Beer batter Pike is on the menu as well as other BBQ favorites. Open to General Public $10.00/minimum donation per plate. Help our good friends at Fishing Has No Boundaries, Colorado Springs Chapter. Approximately starting at 12:30PM

TROUT: GOOD: Shore anglers still seeing big spawners mostly in sandy bottoms 3 to 8 feet of water. Flies, lures and bait all productive but not necessarily at the same time. It seems each bait has it’s moments through out the day. Boaters seeing lots of smaller fish all around the lake as action is picking up as the water warms. Trolling doing well as it often does here. Shallow or deep fish are being caught. Mostly Cuttbows but some nice Browns and occasional Cuttthroats.

KOKANEE SALMON: VERY GOOD: For the most part the salmon are stocked as a future food source for the hungry anglers. Although there are four year old salmon that may be considered a trophy they are not targeted as a trophy fish per se and provide angling fun and delicious food. They only live four years and are making a huge comeback this season so far. It’s been at least 6 years since we have seen action like we are seeing now. These fish can fight and jump like no other so hitting a good bite is always lots of FUN. Trolling is the primary method for success. The fish have been holding deep but the fish in the pic were caught only 20 feet down. Most of the ones we have caught are 40 feet deep or deeper.

Lead core rigs and or downriggers make a huge difference in successfully targeting salmon. We have lead core combo’s ready to fish with 100 yards of color metered lead line and mon leader. Can’t go wrong. We will show you how. We also have the lures and things you will need to score.

CPW has completed this years stocking with 500,000. They have been stocking those numbers for the last several years and hopefully we will see the bite continue.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR: Bite has slowed a bit but fish still being landed. Big sticks in 8 to 12 feet of water have seen good action. The F18 Pike pattern is one of our favorites particularly in spawn season and not always easy to find. We just got some in. Bite times vary but mid morning has been good. Spinney is seeing good action from shore. Mostly smaller but the weight adds up.

ROAD: GOOD: They have chip and sealed the road from Lake George to CR/92 then dirt for about 2 miles then chip and seal to the General Store. The 2 miles of loose dirt and gravel was just graded and sprayed. It is as good as it will be right now but washboard conditions returning. The new chip and seal installed by mistake and not done as well as the CR90 section is seeing some wear due to the heavy logging equipment going in and out. Crickets out of Park County BOCC. For now the way in from Lake George is still way better than last year.

CR 23 to 59: FAIR: They recently graded and it is better than it was but wash board conditions already appearing.

CR 92 to CR 59: FAIR: The stretch through the Park was just graded (thank you very much) but washboard conditions returning
