MARINA STORE HOURS: REGULAR SEASON HOURS MAY 15 TO SEPTEMBER 15 HOLIDAY HOURS 8:00AM TO 6:00PM SATURDAY/SUNDAY 7:00AM TO 7:00PM

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE MEMORIAL HOLIDAY

CURRENT CONDITIONS

WATER TEMP: 51

WATER FLOW: 264 CFS IN 222 CFS OUT

PARK FACILITIES OPEN: We had a good dump of snow on Wed. Although things are still dry there has been some improvement. Aspens popping out, some areas looking nice and green.

NO CURRENT FIRE BAN IN PARK: Fires allowed in campsite fire rings. Other areas in Park County such as National Forest may have other restrictions check local authorities.

HATCH IS ON: The annual May Fly hatch is on now, actually (Chrinomids). It’s annoying but fattens up the fish. People spray themselves with OFF etc but that doesn’t help. We suggest the best use for your old Covid mask. These bugs hatch underwater and come from the mud. They swim to the surface. The ones that don’t make it are fish food. This tend to slow the bite up a little. So early AM is usually a better time to fish. It lasts about 10 days.

MARINA PIKE A THON MAY 2 - 16 working on details 239lbs caught at Spinney by a participant

TROUT: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Lots of stocker action all around the lake. Shore anglers doing well on bait and lures. Night Crawlers/mallow, Power and Fire Baits. Chunky Cheese and or Garlic. Kastmasters, Rooster Tail, Rapala. Boaters mixing it up on the troll. Bigger fish starting to hit. Water temp needs a few more degrees then lots of catching to be had.

KOKANEE SALMON:GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Lots of nice fish being caught on the troll. Some have even caught a few long lining a Tas Devil with no lead core, downrigger or pop gear. That means they will from time to time move up to the top. Meanwhile large numbers of fish deeper in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s in the channel off East side of Duck Island in 60 plus feet of water. They are also hanging on the South side of Duck Island in 45 feet of water and not as deep. North Shore and Deer Island areas also seeing good action. Many different baits are working with a strong emphasis on Pink colors. Many Kokanee anglers like to tip their offering with Shoe peg Fire Corn. Not absolutely necessary as a #55 Tas Devil 13gram on a lead core out four or five colors can do the trick just fine by itself. Bite times can vary but to be sure we have caught them through out the day.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Bite is picking up. Try Husky Jerks with a vigorous action then let it sit. They are hitting it when it’s sitting still. Pike A Thon demonstrates people who put in the time get rewarded. Fish are much bigger and healthier out of Eleven Mile vs Spinney. There are too many Pike in Spinney hence lots of smaller fish.

ROAD: GOOD: They have chip and sealed the road from Lake George to CR/92 then dirt for about 2 miles then chip and seal to the General Store. The 2 miles of loose dirt and gravel was just graded and sprayed. It is as good as it will be right now but washboard conditions returning. The new chip and seal installed by mistake and not done as well as the CR90 section is seeing some wear due to the heavy logging equipment going in and out. Crickets out of Park County BOCC. For now the way in from Lake George is still way better than last year.

CR 23 to 59:FAIR TO POOR:

CR 90 to 92:FAIR: recently graded
