ROAD CONDITIONS: CR 90/92 from Lake George is great with the new chip n seal. But once you get to the Park CR 92 to Spinney it’s horrific. They just made believe believe they graded with the grader barreling down the road barely touching the dirt. CR 59/23 not much better.

LAST CRAWFISH BOIL SUNDAY WITH LIVE MUSIC: FHNB will not be hosting a BBQ on Saturday but will be dishing out plates of crawfish, corn, potatoes and shrimp on SUNDAY. Live music to entertain all with members of Los Ostros (Steve and friends) bringing tunes to the lakeside deck. Festivities start closer to 1:00PM $12.00/plate

We have been working with FHNB for over 20 years assisting in fundraising efforts. They use to host their annual event here at Eleven Mile taking disabled kids fishing. The event outgrew the capacity here and was moved to Pueblo State Park. FHNB is a Colorado Springs based 501C3 organization founded by Dan and Cheryl Saldano. They will be here Sundays to answer questions and sign up volunteers for this years event to be held on September 26 and 27th at the South Shore Marina. Looking forward to seeing you at the Boil!

TROUT:FAIR TO GREAT: Lots of anglers have been struggling. The pop gear catches lots of weeds and small fish. Trolling in general has been challenging. But we have been rocking it catching lots of Trout over 5 pounds. We are primarily jigging tubes and marabous and casting Rapala’s in 12 to 20 feet of water at various areas around the lake. Look for sandy bottoms with weeds near by. Locations like Corral Cove, Coyote Ridge, North Shore Marina, Rocky Flats, Goose Island and spots near Witchers Cove have all produced for us. Colors can change frequently with one day seeing black being hot and the next day it’s white. Late afternoons through sundown seem to be the best bite for the bigger fish. Afternoon weather rolls through with some rain and thunderstorms. Take cover if you have too but don’t quit. These are short lived burst of some wind and rain and the fish love it. Shore anglers can pitch Kastmasters and tubes and be successful but timing is everything. Lots of hatches going on with recent moisture so flies and bugs are also on the menu. Power Bait and nightcrawlers continue to be consistent catchers.

These fish are gorging themselves on crawfish, small fish and insects. Winter must be on it’s way. You have competition called mother nature but we are having a blast.

STOCKING TRUCKS ARRIVE: Given Antero and many lakes are off line the fish they planned on stocking have to go some where and here they come. Normally stocking is done through the ice but 30,000 Cuttbows are headed this way. Since the lake will be getting more pressure this is a good thing. Have caught some stockers around the lake saw two trucks at Witchers Cove the other day. Stockers being caught around the lake.

KOKANEE SALMON:POOR TO FAIR: About the same. It’s been a challenge of late. But fish still being caught on the troll in areas of deeper water along the channel. Weeds are not a problem in that regard. No one single bait can be relied on. Be prepared to change up. Macks Wedding rings still doing well as well as pink and white Needlefish and #55 Tas Devil. Pop gear and dodgers get hot once in a while but cannot be relied on.

NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Lots of great action continues all around the lake. Many different baits and locations are working. We like points East. Less crowd bigger fish. West end active along the weed beds. Corral Cove, Coyote Ridge and North Shore areas good. Howbert Point to Goose Island also good. Fire Tiger patterns in almost any bait draws their attention. Big sticks like Rapala Husky Jerks and others working well. Spoons like the traditional gold Kastmaster can also produce. Spinner Baits should also be in the rotation. Even catching them on the tubes. You lose a few in the process.

PIC # 5: Jeanine in addition to the 8 pounder above got this 7.76 lb beauty. In fact she had an epic week with 7 fish caught over 5lbs, releasing most while also filling the smoker.

PIC # 6, 7 and 8: Who’s eating who? Crawfish for all of us on Sunday top. Crawfish for all the fish. Came out of one large Trout’s stomach. The Sucker and four tiny Pike came out of one 19” Trout. These fish are eating great and growing large. The Eleven Mile eco system is teaming with food of all sorts and the fish can’t resist.

PIC # 9: Marina Staff Alex says as long as it’s not lightning big fish bite in and around rain fronts coming through sporadically. Got the gear catch the fish.
