WEEKLY FISHING REPORT 07.03.25
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY HOLIDAY
ROAD REPORT: Thanks to everyone for giving Amy Mitchell a piece of your mind regarding the disastrous road conditions. She never got blitzed like that! Good Job. It moved them to action. She assured me the road would be graded by the weekend and it is. It won’t last long but for the next week or so its pretty smooth. The fight is just beginning. I attended the Park County BOCC meeting yesterday. I have already written a formal letter of complaint so I attended the meeting to offer my support and assistance in getting this taken care on a permanent basis ie. new paved road. That is not going to happen soon like this year. Maybe not even next but the fight will be over legislation to put more responsibility on the State. The Department of Natural Resources is our next step as the Governor is avoiding even a discussion deferring all discussion to his DNR. It’s a Holiday week so next week I will have the appropriate contact information for the Director of DNR. And we will blitz him.
There really is no good news as the BOCC passed a resolution to close CR 90/92 to all traffic accept for residents with attempts to route all Park traffic over Wilkerson Pass to CR23 to CR 59. They made application to CDOT who must approve. Sounds like a bad idea to me but they are clearly trying to avoid liability on what could happen on 90/92. They believe they can better maintain 23 and 59 which are basically straight shots. A grant was received to chip and seal 90 from Lake George to where it meets 92. This is slated for the Fall. But hardly anything to cheer about. I did meet with them after the public meeting and will be pursuing efforts with them in the legislature.
This is a fight to be sure, stay tuned.

TROUT: VERY GOOD: Action is still strong If you are on a boat and use downriggers the bite is non stop. Lead Core also doing great but we can hardly get them out. No sooner than you drop the downrigger its fish on. Mostly Cuttbows 13 to 16 inches chunky and spunky. Bigger fish to 23 inches not uncommon. Needlefish in a variety of patterns, blue/silver Dynamic, Rapala and Tas Devils. Action from shore is good at sunrise and sunset and every now and then in the middle of the day. Nightcrawler and mallows. Power Bait salmon peach or any of them with garlic.
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR : It is clearly one day hot one day not. Timing and conditions make the big difference. Can’t catch them if you don’t try. Kokanee Kustoms, Macks Wedding Rings with Dodger. Go through your tackle box and try different things. Long line a pink Tas when its windy the fish come close to the surface. Limits are far and few between but they do happen. If you are at the right spot at the right time its game on.
NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Bill’s Spinner Baits are back for a limited time only. He stopped making them but had a little stash that we were able to get. We like the Brown/Orange and Black/Blue available only at the Marina Store. They catch Pike!! Work the coves all around the lake. We like East of Howbert to Witchers. Most run West we head East. Time to work the Spinner baits. The 1st Gen we have are beginning to see action. Rapala and big sticks still producing. Big fish are far and few between but small to moderate size are showing up more frequently. North Shore around the Marina has seen some nice fish as well as Suckers Cove and Stoll Mountain.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
