GOOD ROAD NEWS: It looks like Park County magically got sprinkled with $850,000.00 specifically for CR 90/92 and 23/59 reconstruction. This major project is suppose to start very soon. Estimated time for phase one is 60 days. The plan is to do 90/92 from Lake George first with all traffic besides residential being rerouted over Wilkerson to 23/59. They intend to dig up all existing and replace with all new layered road base with plans to asphalt next year (if they have the money for that, the asphalt that is). Bottom line is some folks just won’t even come here because the road has been so bad. Your trailer’s and RV’s take a beating for sure not to mention general car damage beyond normal wear and tear. We all welcome the plans!

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON. The lake is locked tight. Accept for a small amount of open water at the mouth of the river its more frozen now than it was March 1. The heavy snow has compacted with some melting but then refreezing with cold night time temps causing a pretty hard packed crust. Suppose to see warmer temps and breezy conditions next few days but we can’t imagine much change for this weekend. Thickness is still running 14 to 18 inches if not more in certain spots. Just goes to show you just never know. What once looked like an early ice off has turned into what surely looks like a late ice off. Pretty sure we were shore fishing early April last year.

LAKE OPEN TO CATCHING: 24/7/365

WATER FLOW: 128 CFS IN 137 CFS OUT

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

ICE FISHING SPECIALISTS: Want to do your best and catch the most here at the Mile. Come see us for the latest info, the greatest products, the hottest baits.

TIPS AND STUFF: There are no shortage of baits to try. If we don’t have a tip up out we like working two poles. One with a dead stick presentation with a small jig tipped with wax/meal worm. The other with a Kastmaster which is a favorite and consistently successful spoon. When the fish are aggressive they like a vigorous motion and jig. If they don’t hit the spoon they may attack the micro jig.

Krystal Lazers/Tiny Tots: We have tied these jigs for over 20 years and refined the best colors over time. Season after season they have proved to be a great bait here at the Mile. There are 12 Lazer patterns and 12 Tot patterns. You will not find these jigs anywhere else. Currently not sold online although we are working on that. Those in the know have been stocking up. They have been working really well across the board.

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish on the ice. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots. WE ARE HERE FISHING EVERYDAY AND CAN PUT YOU ON THE FISH. We have a GREAT Ice Fishing selection of gear and baits.

PIC OF THE WEEK: Send us you ice catching pics. If we use them in the fishing report you can have three Krystal Lazers or Tiny Tots for FREE on you next visit.

PIC # 1: Six Kokanee caught last Saturday. Said he should had a limit.

PIC # 2 & 3: These are not holes drilled by augers. This is way out in the middle of the lake and the further East you go the more of these are around. Very odd. Although there was water coming through at some point the ones seen were frozen over.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: Look to shallow water for bigger fish. Spawn occurring under the ice with the lunker fish in 4 feet of water. Look for sandy bottom. Stocker action still hot at Marina/North Shore although reports find the smaller fish out around the lake. Pink continues to be the hot color. Bait on the bottom or jigs like Sierra Slammers and Krystal Lazers and Tiny Tots

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR??: The salmon bit early in the season. Maybe they think Winter is on reboot. Ford Williams from Silverthorne who is one of the better Kokanee anglers in Colorado hit a sweet spot on Saturday and Sunday. The fish were under him and when they decided to bite it was frenzied action. He was working East from Witchers Cove pass the “big rock” East of Deer Island in 80 feet of water. Pink was hot Saturday Sunday it was go through the box. The bite on Sunday was not as strong as Saturday but there was a time when it was all he could do to work one rig. Meanwhile out from North Shore and Duck Island the water was quite with not a hint of salmon so go East and get lucky. Jigging machine back in play!

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR: Action is picking back up with water dogs and suckers being the preferred bait although some action on spoons tipped with crawler or sucker meat. Try 8 to 10 feet of water. North Shore, Stoll Mtn, Howbert Point.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
