IT’S ABOUT THE CATCHING

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON Lake is 99.8% ice covered, as you can see from pic below. We are ice fishing! Some folk called and said they heard Antero was Ice Off so they assumed Eleven Mile was too. Why? Antero is 16 feet deep at the Dam. No snow on the ice. Sun beating down heating the lake bottom up and yes it looks pretty bad over there for ice fishing. Eleven Mile is 100 plus feet at the Dam and it takes a lot of energy to melt this ice. Yes there is some minor open water but plenty of good ice overall. It was not as windy as predicted and the ice held up well. With current low nighttime temps much of the minor open water is freezing back over. Ice thickness running 8 to 14 inches with plenty of access. You can have open water out in the middle but it doesn’t mean anything if you are fishing Corral Cove which is solid.
CONTEST UPDATE: Due to scheduling issues polygraph rescheduled for Friday the 20th 12:30PM. Unofficial results posted on contest page.
MARINA MARCH MADNESS: So far all systems go. Three more weeks crossing our fingers there will ice. There will be a contest!! We have modified in the past based on ice conditions. Sign up now!
BOAT RENTAL RESERVATIONS: Now available online. We have not decided on rate increases yet. We are trying to hold the line but certain expenses have NOT come down for us. Insurance, labor and cost of replacement all remain sky high. A new Pontoon is doubled in cost from just a few years ago. We are not able to double our rates that’s for sure.
HOURS: Currently we are trying to be open 7 days/week depending on staff availability 8:00AM to 4:00PM Saturday open at 7:00 AM (likely closed Wed and Thursday)
PARK OPEN 24/7/365
WATER FLOW: 40.7 CFS IN 80.6 CFS OUT
WATER TEMP: cold
ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA
TROUT: GOOD: Some really nice Cuttbows and Browns being iced. Little crappie jigs like Sierra Slammers doing well on a dead stick. Colors change throughout the day. Be prepared to offer pink, orange or chartreuse and an occasional dark green couldn’t hurt. There is no reason to give up on the ice now. Take advantage of our colder weather here which has firmed things up.
SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: Action still happening. Duck and Goose Island directions have been consistent. Find the right spoon catch the fish. Size of lure and color may vary but orange and pinks doing well. Nice groupings hanging out in 25 to 40 feet deep in 55 to 60 feet of water. Jigging machine and electronics will increase your success dramatically.
NORTHERN PIKE: VERY GOOD: Lots of great catching CONTINUES for chunky fish. Water dogs seem to be the bait they want. Fish them not more than 1 foot off the bottom. Try 6 to 8 feet of water no matter where. North Shore to Corral Cove have been particularly good. Rocky Flats to Stoll Mtn also good. It has been a solid ice season for Northerns. Come on out and catch the big one.
ROAD: GOOD: They have chip and sealed the road from Lake George to CR/92 then dirt for about 2 miles then chip and seal to the General Store. The 2 miles of loose dirt and gravel is getting wash boarded and in POOR condition but still a small section of the 10 mile ride in.
CR92/59 to 23: FAIR TO POOR : The no chip and seal 2 mile section from 90/92 turn to 92 has seen better days.
