CURRENT CONDITIONS: UPDATE: 02.15.26 ICE ON. The lake is 99.9% ice covered. Lots of areas to access good ice but some shoreline areas are Spring like. Thickness varies but most running 8” to 14”. Here is a detailed list of access areas. Weather report is bad short term with strong wind Tuesday but it looks like a cold snap is on the way and that will firm things up if it comes to pass after Wed.
WITCHERS COVE: 9” to 14” lots of good areas to gain access
HOWBERT POINT: One of the hardest hit with the West side being almost impossible to access the ice with huge walls of dirt. East side no issue for access. 8 “ to 10”
LAZY BOY/ROCKING CHAIR: 6” to 8” with good access
SUCKERS COVE: 8” access good water murky
CROSS CREEK: 6” to 8” access good water murky
ROCKY FLATS: hardly anywhere to gain access
NORTH SHORE: Ice solid access best at the boat ramp with no on off issues. Expansion cracks and pressure ridges pushing on the shore. Some water flowing particularly behind the Marina building. Thickness running 9” to 11” most places. The little boat cove ice is thick but in general the cove is a mess.
COYOTE RIDGE/CORRAL COVE: Free access cove 10” to 16” good access Corral running 12’ plus, good access
CONTEST UPDATE: South Park Ice Masters saw a total of 122 teams compete for big money. Team 74 Rushton/Rushton from Salida hit big with a BFP Winner at 5.695lbs and a 1st Place total of 10.26lbs for two fish. BFP paid $3,500.00 1ST Place $1,100.00 TOTAL PAYOUT $4,600.00. The rule is if you win BFP and 1st Place it is an automatic polygraph. Test will be given by participating sponsor Cross Point Solutions in Colorado Springs on Thursday February 12. Only one team member is required to take the test. Contest and polygraph results to be reported on the contest page soon. Contest rules state that all participants are subject to polygraph. Ice Masters is the only event where it is required if you score the two wins. Money is held until after the test.
CONTEST INTEGRITY: We always strive to produce a clean, fun contest free of cheaters. We give away thousands of dollars and over the years we have seen a team or two try to cheat. We rely on good sportsmenship and honest participants. But we need to demonstrate that we will enforce all rules and catch the ones trying to break those rules. Consequently in the Ice Masters the rule is win BFP and 1st Place and one team member must take a polygraph. There is just too much money at stake and all contest participants need to know that all was on the up and up and they won fair and square. We can call for one anytime we feel it necessary in other situations. Two years ago a contestant being tested was found to be using illegal spawn resulting in disqualification. Last year a contestant admitted during testing that he was very intoxicated, not just a beer. Rules are rules, No alcohol during contest. That rule exits or insurance will not be issued. Our decision on that we felt was fair, allowing the team to keep the money won while disqualifying them for the last contest which they were signed up and paid for. No refund.
Leslie B posted online “According to Larry by words of his mouth. They actually don’t do polygraph testing. The people accused fested up. I know I would pass with flying colors” No “flying colors” for you if the question was did Larry actually tell you that? Categorically a FALSE statement. We have given 11 tests over the years. Number 12 coming up. They now cost $600.00. Cross Point Solutions (the polygraph company) actually is a new sponsor this year and we get a discount on our tests. Test today at 2:30PM. We don’t appreciate nor take lightly those that make false and defamatory statements about the integrity of the Tournament. Contemplating legal action.
HOURS: Currently we are trying to be open 7 days/week depending on staff availability 8:00AM to 4:00PM Saturday open at 7:00 AM (likely closed Wed and Thursday)

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA
TROUT: GOOD: Lots of decent Cuttbows in the 17 to 19 inch range with Browns still making an appearance. Contest saw a fair number of fish pushing 5lbs. Fifty seven teams weighed in fish. Lots of stocker action around the lake with more dumped in yesterday. If you get on a roll you can catch lots of fish fish mostly small ones but a blast none the less.
SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: We have found action to be consistent out from us at North Shore. 60 feet of water is a good spot with fish being seen from bottom to 25 foot level. PFO Swedish Pimple in #3 or #5 sporting the single hook has done well. Kastmasters in orange and CDY have been performing. Meal worn or Gulp Pink Flamingo Maggots baits of choice. You need to test your tackle box and work the spoons. Some times it just makes sense to fish one pole and concentrate on that. Missing the hit is most peoples problem in catching Kokanee. They love to hit on the drop and you must be ready. Electronics a must for best live info and getting and staying on fish. Jigging machines a staple for most experienced salmon hunters. We have three jigging machines left for sale. New windshield wiper arm/motor in water tight box, Luhr Jensen 2 boxes green rainbow Pop gear, 12 volt battery. These contraptions act as an attractant and often hold schools of fish in the neighborhood. You can easily make one yourself but finding them somewhere is highly unlikely. We make ours in house for ourselves and a few to sell. This year we had 10 for sale 3 left. $289.00. The last 10 days have seen the first opportunities given ice conditions to get out there. Fish On!
NORTHERN PIKE: VERY GOOD: Lots of great catching CONTINUES for chunky fish. Water dogs seem to be the bait they want. Fish them not more than 1 foot off the bottom. Try 6 to 8 feet of water no matter where. North Shore to Corral Cove have been particularly good. Rocky Flats to Stoll Mtn also good.
ROAD: GOOD: They have chip and sealed the road from Lake George to CR/92 then dirt for about 2 miles then chip and seal to the General Store. The 2 miles of loose dirt and gravel is getting wash boarded and in POOR condition but still a small section of the 10 mile ride in.
CR92/59 to 23: FAIR : some parts recently graded.
PIC # 1: Team #74 Rushton/Rushton with their 5.695lbs BFP winner. Full contest results to be posted soon.
PIC # 2: Almost a limit at 7. Master salmon angler Ford Williams from Silverthorne had a fun morning on Sunday. He said its was crazy at 7:00AM died down and picked up again at 11:00AM. Working 60 feet of water out from Marina.
PIC # 3: The presentation of the Everyday Angler Championship green jackets to Rushton/Rushton. Pro Team P4 Johnson/Johnson won 1st Place in Pro Division for their green jackets. Not their first!
PIC # 4: Scenes like this common at North Shore, Rocky Flats and other areas around the lake.
PIC # 5: Prizes, prizes, prizes and he won a bunch not just the Shapell 6500!
