11 MILE MARINA PRESENTS THE FHNB CRAWFISH BOIL WEEKEND SMORE -A- THON: Our FHNB fundraiser starts Saturday with the FHNB crew setting up for Burgers and Brats BBQ from 11:00AM until 3:00 PM. At 3:00PM to 6:00PM we will fire up our Propane Fire Pit on our lakeside deck. Its been a rough smore camping fire ban Summer so we are offering Smore Relief. Bring the family and the fixins and we will provide the flame and mallow forks. The perfect mallow awaits you. There’s a whole lotta things we’ve never done but we’ve never had too much smore fun!

CURRENT ROAD CONDITIONS: The BIG NEWS is you can now drive from Lake George to the State Park Coyote Ridge entrance on all new chip n seal road base. Not a single pot hole, no dirt ruts, no washboard, no dust, no losing trailer parts, no vehicle damage, no rv/boat damage, no flat tires, no getting run off the road by some one trying to avoid a pot hole the size of their car AND no more spousal arguments about why you were even going to Eleven Mile in the first place because of the horrific road conditions!! NO CUDOS to Park County. It’s about time. Enough public pressure, threat of lawsuits and actual lawsuits maybe moved the dial. Don’t think this is the end of it. They still refuse to do anymore. No road through the Park, no CR 92 to CR 59, No CR 23. BUT we now have the best road conditions on the 10 miles to and from Lake George that we have seen in a decade. REJOICE! Time to COMEBACK to the MILE!! FOR REAL ITS A PLEASURE TO RIDE THE NEW ROAD

CURRENT CONDITIONS: All Park facilities are open. Regular afternoon rain has greened things up. Weeds on the West End make trolling a little difficult. Not nearly as bad out from North Shore to points East.

Crappy dirt road through the Park to Spinney was bladed. You wouldn’t know that this week, The real solution must be made at some point. The County continues to fail its residents and visitors. They are full of it when they say too many miles not enough money. Anytime someone would bring up a County wide for County wide improvements tax increase for roads they would argue no one would vote for it. That’s because no one trusts them to spend the money properly and can you blame them, After 30 years it comes down to mismanagement, NO LONG TERM PLANNING and shear negligence. Every BOCC member should be replaced…elections are coming. CORRECTION: Misspoke Amy Mitchell is not term limited. Her first stint was finishing off some else’s term which does not count toward term limits. Darn. Well maybe we will get lucky and she will resign like Dave Wissel (President of BOCC) is doing.

WATER TEMP: 66-67

WATER FLOW: 94.7 CFS IN 98.3 CFS OUT

Recent CPW press release regarding the Dream Stream seems a little confusing. They are asking for voluntary restrictions on afternoon angling citing low flow and high water temps. Although water temps may be high coming out of Spinney the flow is strong for this time of year at almost 100 CFS. The water surface temp at Eleven Mile yesterday was 67 a little warmer on the West End but in general in line with seasonal norms. Eleven Mile remains almost full, one of the few lakes that can say that. We are hoping it stays like that and the super El Nino that they have been talking about shows up soon.

CURRENT FIRE BAN PARK COUNTY STAGE 2: Propane grills allowed. Propane fire rings also allowed. No change yet. Stage 1 would be nice but it takes a while for conditions to get there. Regular afternoon rain is a start.

CRAWFISH BOILS IN AUGUST: As a fundraiser for FHNB we will host our annual crawfish boils weekends in August. $12.00/plate. FIRST BOIL SUNDAY AUGUST 9. FHNB hosts BBQ on Saturday the 7th. Then Boils the following Sundays through August 30. Starting time approximately Noon while supplies last.

TROUT:GOOD: August sometimes can be challenging mostly because the weeds make trolling a little difficult for boaters who like to do that. But other methods and timing make for productive catching. We have been pitching tube jigs and casting Kastmasters and catching plenty of nice fish. Shore anglers do well at sunrise, sundown and night. Power bait has been working for those who pull up the chair, get a cold drink and patiently wait or dunk some over the side on the boat while you pitch a lure. Calibeatis still on the hatch late morning for the fly folk. Dog days of Summer call for adjustments but efforts are often rewarded. One day it seemed only one lure was working on the downrigger. The #1Needlefish Chartreuse/red dots. Hardly a fish on the lead cores. The next day started off with three quick fish on the Needlefish then it went cold along with anything on the downriggers. Tas Devils on lead core turned on and kicked into high gear.

KOKANEE SALMON:FAIR: Action is not fast and furious. But fish still being caught on the troll in areas of deeper water along the channel. Weeds are not a problem in that regard. No one single bait can be relied on. Be prepared to change up. Macks Wedding rings still doing well as well as pink and white Needlefish and #55 Tas Devil. Pop gear and dodgers get hot once in a while but cannot be relied on.

NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD: Lots of great action continues all around the lake. We like points East. Less crowd bigger fish. West end active to say the least. Fire Tiger patterns in almost any bait draws their attention. Big sticks like Rapala Husky Jerks and others working well. Spoons like the traditional gold Kastmaster can also produce. Spinner Baits should also be in the rotation.

PIC # 4: Crawfish Boils Sundays in August starting the 9th. Noon to 2:00PM This is part of our fundraising efforts on behalf of FHNB Colorado Springs chapter. They will also have a BBQ. Crawfish $12.00/plate includes pile of crawfish Louisiana style, corn and potatoes.
