2027 EAGLE CLAW/SHAPPELL COLORADO CLASSIC ICE FISHING TOURNAMENT JANUARY 9, FEBRUARY 6, MARCH 6. SIGN UP BEGINS NOVEMBER 1

WATER TEMP: 49

WATER FLOW: 87.2 CFS IN 74.5 CFS OUT

TROUT: GOOD: Once the water temp falls below 50 action tends to slow up a bit. We hit the lake for our last boat outing yesterday and did well trolling hooking up on quite a few 17-18 inch Cuttbows. Every lure we tried caught. Tas Devils did the best. We weren’t as lucky jigging and came up short for the most part. Wind wasn’t too bad but it definitely puts a chill on when it blows. Shore action happening sporadically on typical baits like crawlers and power bait. Kastmasters and tube jigs also producing from shore. With the level down slightly your regular spots are shallower. In November look to Rodgers Mountain and Rocking Chair for spots that get deep close to shore. Rodgers M is one of the best.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR: Some four year olds being caught in the lake here and there. River is chock full of spawners and action is strong. Regular customer Brian M caught what looked like a 2/3 year old right outside the breakwater recently. But thats the only one reported.

NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD: Action continues to be consistent all around the lake. Spoons, tubes and big sticks have all been productive. White has been productive whether it be spinner bait, tube or stick. West has seen some great catches. Timing seems to be concentrated in early to late afternoon but some have been caught earlier. The foul weather has resulted in some hot action for those that aren’t fair weather fisher people. We fish in all types of conditions and although wind isn’t fun and rain calls for the proper gear the bite can be spectacular. Can’t catch them if you don’t try. Time to hit the MILE! Plenty caught from shore and boat.
