11 MILE MARINA WEEKLY FISHING REPORT 01.25.24

“ITS ABOUT THE CATCHING

JANUARY HOURS: FRIDAY THRU MONDAY 8:00AM to 4:00PM

EAGLE CLAW/SHAPPELL COLORADO CLASSIC ICE FISHING TOURNAMENT: SOUTH PARK ICE MASTERS FEBRUARY 10 SOLD OUT

VOLUNTEERS: We could use some help on contest for on ice tournament officials. Inspection and contact with contestants throughout the day. Volunteers are compensated with cash and prizes. 719-748-0317. If we are not around leave message.

SOUTH PARK ICE MASTERS: This is a big money big bragging rights event. Two Trout total weight. Big Fish Pot last year was $3,350.00. The winners placed third overall which paid an additional $600.00. We payout to 20% of the field meaning 30 teams will win money. If team wins First Place and BFP it is automatic polygraph.

TOYOTA: We want to welcome and thank our new sponsor Toyota Dealers Association of Colorado Springs. They have purchased insurance for the Tacoma. We all want a team to win. As stated must be in all three events. Must catch at least a 16”fish in last event. All teams that do will be entered in random draw. The team picked will have the chance to win. Your weigh ticket will be your winning ticket if the two numbers to the right of the decimal match the insurance company predetermined two digit number in the secret envelope. We use to do a similar deal for a Lund Boat at Pike tournament but you had to match three numbers to the right. A team matched the numbers once but unfortunately were not the team chosen to make the match.

ICE SKATING AREA IS OPEN BEHIND MARINA.

HOCKEY NETS AVAILABLE

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON. Ice thickness running 12” or more. There is about an inch or so of fresh snow on lake. This is good news if it doesn’t get blown off right away and winds have been minimal. The mild temperatures we have seen of late are not particularly good for ice. So a little snow is good for reflection of sun. Ice is still good but temps in the 50”s is not. Stay away from rocks as they absorb heat and can create soft ice around the area. It has been single digits at night.

LAKE OPEN TO CATCHING: 24/7/365

WATER FLOW: 54.7 CFS IN 63 CFS OUT

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

ICE FISHING SPECIALISTS: Want to do your best and catch the most here at the Mile. Come see us for the latest info, the greatest products, the hottest baits.

TIPS AND STUFF: There are no shortage of baits to try. If we don’t have a tip up out we like working two poles. One with a dead stick presentation with a small jig tipped with wax/meal worm. The other with a Kastmaster which is a favorite and consistently successful spoon. When the fish are aggressive they like a vigorous motion and jig. If they don’t hit the spoon they may attack the micro jig.

Krystal Lazers/Tiny Tots: We have tied these jigs for over 20 years and refined the best colors over time. Season after season they have proved to be a great bait here at the Mile. There are 12 Lazer patterns and 12 Tot patterns. You will not find these jigs anywhere else. Currently not sold online although we are working on that. Those in the know have been stocking up. They have been working really well across the board.

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish on the ice. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots. WE ARE HERE FISHING EVERYDAY AND CAN PUT YOU ON THE FISH. We have a GREAT Ice Fishing selection of gear and baits.

PIC OF THE WEEK: Send us you ice catching pics. If we use them in the fishing report you can have three Krystal Lazers or Tiny Tots for FREE on you next visit.

TROUT: GOOD: Pink continues to be the predominate successful color. Paddle Bugs, Sierra Slammers and anything with pink on it including spoons. Things can change daily and orange and green have also been productive. We have spent some time over deeper water and have caught nice Trout suspended from the surface down to 20 feet. Sometime the biggest fish are just below the ice.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO POOR: Reports have a few fish caught here and there. We had a client catch a 19” one on a recent trip but no others. All you can do is put in the time and see if you can find them. North Shore, Duck Island and Deer Island areas are good places to start in 40 feet of water or more.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Anglers catching nice ones. Waterdogs seem to be the most successful offering. Some caught on suckers. We have both and just the right size. Bite times have varied. Early, mid morning and early afternoon have been good.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
