USED EQUIPMENT FOR SALE: Like new Vexilar FLSE8 Genz Box $249.00 Like new StrikeMaster Lithium 40V 10” Ice Auger $389.00

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON. The ice has held up well. We are still seeing thickness running 14 to 18 inches. Recent snow will keep it firm for now. No issues for this weekend accept for fresh snow making trekking difficult. It looks like so far we got 12” to 20” with drifting depending on where you are.

The next week or two will be “early on early off”. The ice is plenty thick to be sure but the edges go first. Be selective where you get on and off. Some areas depending on location stay really nice and others are dark and dangerous. Caution always advised. There should be no issues with this weekend. Considering its the middle of March our best guess is this ice will not be gone by April 1.

ICE FISHING SPECIALISTS: Want to do your best and catch the most here at the Mile. Come see us for the latest info, the greatest products, the hottest baits.

TIPS AND STUFF: There are no shortage of baits to try. If we don’t have a tip up out we like working two poles. One with a dead stick presentation with a small jig tipped with wax/meal worm. The other with a Kastmaster which is a favorite and consistently successful spoon. When the fish are aggressive they like a vigorous motion and jig. If they don’t hit the spoon they may attack the micro jig.

Krystal Lazers/Tiny Tots: We have tied these jigs for over 20 years and refined the best colors over time. Season after season they have proved to be a great bait here at the Mile. There are 12 Lazer patterns and 12 Tot patterns. You will not find these jigs anywhere else. Currently not sold online although we are working on that. Those in the know have been stocking up. They have been working really well across the board.

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. WE ARE HERE FISHING EVERYDAY AND CAN PUT YOU ON THE FISH. We have a GREAT Ice Fishing selection of gear and baits.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: The bite has been sporadic. Spawner fish showing up in shallow water. Deeper water finds some but not many fish. Pink continues to be a successful color. Early morning has been best with a strong bite from 7 to 9. Late season tends to get better as the end approaches. Nightcrawlers laying on the bottom have been productive if a crawfish doesn’t grab it first. Sierra Slammers tipped continued to do well.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR TO POORER: As far as we are concerned there was not much of a season. The small size caught is indicative of the stocking history where one year we got zero. Hopes ride on next season when those smaller fish will be at least 2 years old or so.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO POOR: And just like that they stopped biting. Not that they won’t bite tomorrow but not a single Pike was caught at the last contest. They didn’t disappear they just got lock jaw. We think they will be biting again. Goes in stages and phases. Small suckers and water dogs were doing good.
