PARK OPEN 24/7/365

CURRENT CONDITIONS: All Park campsites and facilities are open. Spring is springing The annual hatch is in full swing should be over in a week or so. It can slow the bite up a little. Lots of great moisture with passing fronts. They don’t last long but can be heavy. No Fire Ban always great news. It’s getting green.

CR 90/92 was redone last year. We are beyond disappointed in what Park County has done. If the road doesn’t get paved in the future it will be an ongoing headache of a massive proportion. We know that the County has many miles of road and they fight with the State as to who should bare responsibility for traffic into the State Parks. But as far as we can see a good resolution has not been reached. This road is nothing short of shameful. Something has to be done to rectify this horrible County negligence that is damaging our vehicles, trailers and boats. Poisoning the environment with Mag Chloride, creating hazardous driving conditions and who knows what else. We see wildlife drinking from pools of mag chloride mud water after rains. Who in County Government thought this was a good idea should resign. Maybe that includes the entire County BOCC. We try to avoid discussing anything but catching fish in this report but this is an exception along with the Cell Tower which btw has done little to nothing to improve service and a lot to destroy a beautiful view.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: The annual hatch has put a crimp in the strong bite we were experiencing. Mostly smaller Cuttbows being caught trolling a variety of baits behind lead core. Other methods are challenged with natural competition from all the bugs. Action at night still strong. As soon as the hatch is over the bite will be in high gear which should be soon.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR: If you put in the time and know what you are doing you will catch some. Look to North Shore to Duck Island and Duck Island to Deer Island. Fish are suspended 10 to 40 feet. Most successful technique is trolling lead core with a dodger and a Macks wedding Ring, Squid or Kokanee Kustoms. We have tipped them with Pink Gulp Alive Maggots.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Action continues on the West End is good with Stoll to Cross Creek seeing some nice fish. Trolling big Sticks like the F18 Rapala Pike Pattern in particular have seen success. Look to late morning through early afternoon as a good time for the bite.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
